Lagos Baale crushes wife to death with Jeep

Baale of Ise Town , Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, Taibu Ogunbanjo, has
been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for reportedly
crushing his wife of three years, Rotimi Ogunbanjo , with his Toyota
Highlander.
flobaze

It was gathered that Taibu’s marriage was plagued
with misunderstanding and fights, and Rotimi’s death on
Thursday, December 7, 2017 came after she went to her
husband’s block-moulding factory at Folu, a community in Ibeju
Lekki, to destroy blocks moulded.
Akinsipe, a community leader who confirmed the incident,
disclosing that the matter was reported at the Akodo Police
Station, said Rotimi died at the spot and her corpse has been
deposited at the Epe General Hospital.
“He (Taibu) is the baale of the community. He and his wife
had been having issues since they got married. I did not know
what actually happened between them on that day, but I learnt
that they had a disagreement in the morning.
“She went to his block factory and destroyed some blocks
arranged on the premises. He entered his vehicle angrily and
as he was driving out of the premises, the wife tried to stop
him. He hit her and she died on the spot” Akinsipe said.
A police source who spoke to Punch’s correspondent, said the
suspect’s family reported at the police station that the death
resulted from an accident.
“The baale and the woman got married three years ago without
a child and they had been having disagreements. On that
particular day, she destroyed some blocks at the industry. The
man became angry and as he was driving out, he crushed her
with his vehicle on the factory premises.
“The relations of the suspect have said that it was a case of
an accident. But looking at the circumstances surrounding the
incident, the accident claim is untenable” the source said.

flobaze
Suspects arrested include Ijeoma Eboka, Irene Ogbuehi, Chinyere
Mark, Perpetua Dike, Lilian Asoluka, Grace Ogueri and Edith

Men are to blame for Nigeria’s woes – Oby Ezekwesili

A former Vice-President of the World Bank and former
Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has said that
male political leaders are to blame for the poor state of
affairs in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
She also absolved women of any blame, saying they have had only
a “marginal” role to play in the poor governance that has
bedeviled the continent.
flobaze
She stressed the need to have more women at all levels of
government and good representation at all arms of government —
executive, legislature and judiciary.
Ezekwesili, who was the keynote speaker at the maiden edition of
the HID Awolowo Foundation annual lecture in Lagos on Tuesday,
said research had shown that in Africa, only five per cent of
women are chief executive officers, only 22 per cent of women
are cabinet members, 25 per cent are parliamentarians, 29 per
cent are managers, while a mere 36 per cent get promotion.
In the lecture, themed ‘Ethical, politics, peace, development and
security in Nigeria: The critical importance of women’s
leadership,’ Ezekwesili said it was time Nigerian women disrupted
the political process that had acted as a barrier for them to enter
into the political space, noting that the barrier ranges from
cultural, economic, social, religious to self-imposed barriers.
She said,
“For as long as the women are held down, the trend analysis
does not show any reversal of outcome. Nobody does any
favour to Nigerian women by involving them in governance.
“Women are incredible human resource that we must put to
use, and what this says to us is that we need to be more
intentional and deliberate.
“Research shows that when many more women are at
decision-making level, there is less corruption and a wise
society would know that empowering its women is smart
economics.
“The only way to honour the memory of Yeye Oodua is to take
it to that next level; disrupt this model, which is no longer
sustainable.”

Samuel Eto denies buying plane tickets for Cameroonian migrants to return home from Libya

A story has been going around social media claiming
footballer, Samuel Eto’o bought plane tickets for
Cameroonian migrants so they could return home from
Libya.

In a post on his Facebook page, he said “This rumor is absolutely
unfounded!”.

flobaze

He urged his followers to act to prevent the terrible plight of
migrants rather than react to it, adding that “among the victims
will be people who we’ve lived alongside at some point”.
He wrote;
“Several sites have circulated a rumor that I would have given
money to every migrant returnee, in relation to a topical issue.
This rumor is absolutely unfounded!
I would therefore take advantage of this opportunity, dear
brothers and sisters, to emphasize that love prevents more
evils than money can solve.
So let’s not waste our precious time looking for thrills at the
expense of grieving people, but let us use this time to prevent
other brothers from being deprived of their dignity.
Let us not just react when we can prevent, because among
these victims are certainly people who have been our
neighbours at some point, but to whom we have not daigné to
look kindly.
Let us build our Africa by having a positive impact on each
other!

Banker arrested for torturing his wife to death in Lagos

flobaze

A bank worker, Olaoluwa Adejo, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police
Command for the death of his 28-year-old wife, Maureen, at their home on Peluola
Street, Oworonshoki, in the Bariga area of the state.
The 32-year-old Lagos indigene was alleged to have tortured his wife of five years
with a belt, as well as cutting her with a machete.
Their five-year-old son, Richard, in whose presence the incident reportedly
happened, told PUNCH Metro that his father also forced a local insecticide,
otapiapia, down the throat of his mother.
“I am Richard Adejo. I am five years old. My daddy beat my mummy with a belt;
machete her here (shows arms), machete her here (shows legs). He used the
belt on her here (points at face); forced my mummy to drink otapiapia
(insecticide). My daddy took my mummy away.
“My dad

“My daddy said my mummy should get out of the house. My mummy said no. In
the night, my daddy woke my mummy up and said, ‘Mosquito is too much, let me
go and buy otapiapia’. My daddy forced my mummy to drink it. She shook her
head. She vomited.
“My daddy slapped my mummy. My mummy did not do anything to him. My daddy
gave her one blow. My daddy kicked her. My daddy told her to get out of the
house and carry her load. Small blood came out. My daddy slapped her, kicked
her, machete her, blow her, and put otapiapia in her mouth and in the food,”
Richard told our correspondent during an interview on Monday.
The victim’s mother, Mrs. Kate Jonathan, told PUNCH Metro that Richard had
given more graphic details of the incident to family members, police authorities
and officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
She explained that her daughter had packed out of her matrimonial house five
days to the incident and was living with her when she decided to return for a
party at the children’s school. She said she never returned alive.
She said, “I was called on the telephone by an unknown number around 4pm on
Sunday, November 12. The caller said, ‘Your daughter’s husband has killed her at
Oworo’. He dropped the call.
“Around 5pm when I got to their house, I discovered that the house was locked
up. There were two boys guarding the house and they refused to open the door to
me, saying the owner of the house instructed them not to open the door.
“I didn’t see my daughter or her husband. I was begging them to open the door
when I saw Richard jumping up through the window. He saw me and asked the
boys to open the door, but they refused.
“I broke the louvers of the window. The boy climbed a stool and said from inside,
‘my father has killed my mother and taken her away.’”
She said she reported the case at the Oworonshoki Police Station, where she was
told that the suspect had already reported that his wife committed suicide by
taking local insecticide, Sniper.
Jonathan said after making her statement, she left the station.
PUNCH Metro was told that Olaoluwa had already deposited the body of his wife
in the Gbagada General Hospital mortuary and had allegedly gone to obtain court
documents to enable him to bury her.
Our correspondent learnt that he was asked to return to the police station for a
certain document, which led to his arrest based on his mother-in-law’s complaint.
The suspect was said to have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation
and Intelligence Department, Yaba.
However, the couple’s three children were said to have been taken to a family
friend, a policeman, who lived in Agric, in the Ikorodu area.
Due to the insistence of the mother-in-law, the police were said to have
demanded the release of the couple’s first child, Richard, for interrogation.
In a meeting at the SCIID, Yaba, Richard was alleged to have given an account of
how his mother was allegedly murdered by his father.
The police reportedly ordered the removal of the corpse from the Gbagada
General Hospital mortuary to the morgue of the Lagos State University Teaching
Hospital, Ikeja.
The victim’s mother, Jonathan, who claimed to have visited the mortuary, said
Maureen’s body had machete cuts and other torture marks.
She said, “My daughter, who worked as the manager of my chemical company
had, about a week to the incident, complained that her husband said we would
soon see her obituary.
“I sent my eldest daughter to accompany her to the house to know what
happened. The man begged and said he was only joking. He said he really loved
his wife. I insisted that she pack out of the house.
“She was in my house for three days before she said she wanted to return home
because her children’s school would be having a cultural party. She left and went
to the party with her husband on Saturday. It was that night that she was
brutalised and killed by the husband. From what we saw in the mortuary, she had
blood in her nostrils and deep cuts in her hands and legs.”
The victim’s mother asked that Maureen’s three children, namely, Richard, five;
Henry, three; and Omowunmi, six months, be released to her.
The policeman with the couple’s two children, Ajisafe, said he believed Olaoluwa
did not kill his wife.
He explained that the suspect’s aged mother handed over the children to him for
safekeeping.
The 83-year-old mother of the suspect, Florence Adejo, also denied that her son
murdered Maureen.
She said, “He came to knock on the door of my house late that night. He fell on
the ground and started weeping and lamenting that his wife had destroyed him. A
crowd gathered in front of the house where I am the landlady. They tried to
console him. He said his wife took Sniper. He said he thought it was a joke until
their son, Richard, went to bring the container of the insecticide.
“She was taken to a private hospital where she was initially rejected before she
was taken to the general hospital where she died. I was told her mother sells the
insecticide and she brought it home for mosquitoes. Why she decided to drink it is
what is beyond my understanding. My son said they didn’t have any disagreement
between them and she was not mentally ill.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, said investigations were ongoing
into the incident.
He said, “The man came to report that his wife committed suicide. The DPO put
some questions to him. We thought we should investigate further to know what
really happened because there are some doubts we need to clear in the matter.
The police are not accepting the claim of suicide hook, line, and sinker. The
matter is at the SCIID and investigations are ongoing.”

‘Tithes and offering cannot buy private jets’ – Pastor Blessing Agboli says

Wife of the General Overseer of The Victorious Army Ministries International in Lagos, Pastor Blessing Agboli, has joined several pastors coming out to speak and defend tithing since after OAP Daddy Freeze started teaching against it.
flobaze
She refuted claims that most church leaders with private jets acquired them using the tithes and offerings gathered from their congregants.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Pastor Agboli said private jets are so expensive that no amount of tithes and offering can buy them.

‘’Offerings cannot buy private jets. You cannot just park a jet without making a business out of it. Owning a private jet is not a sin and those who have them should never be apologetic. I don’t think offerings can buy jets. I don’t think pastors also should apologize for making and spending money. That we are pastors does not mean we should be poor.’’ she said.

Lagos ranks world’s second cheapest city

Nigeria commercial nerve centre, Lagos, has been ranked the second cheapest city in the world for expatriates.
According to a report by the Economic Intelligence Unit on Monday, Lagos which fell 16 places to 132nd place on the world priciest cities index joins Kazakhstan’s Almaty at the bottom.
flobaze
The report said,
“Although Nigeria has been attracting significant interest and investment in recent years, the fall in global oil prices has driven a collapse in the value of the Nigerian naira, which pushed down relative pricing, despite strong local inflation. The relative cost of living in Lagos has more than halved since 2008, which might signal renewed interest from foreign investors, with price levels so low by international standards. “
The Worldwide Cost of Living 2017 report saw Asian cities take five of the top ten spots, thanks to a sustained recovery in the strength of the Japanese yen that propelled Tokyo and Osaka back into the top ten, alongside Singapore and Seoul.
Singapore was ranked the most expensive city in the world for expatriates for the fourth consecutive year.
Western Europe accounted for a further four cities, with stalwarts Zurich and Geneva in third and seventh position respectively.
Paris, the only Eurozone city, came in eighth position and the Danish capital Copenhagen, which pegs its currency to the Euro, rounded off the top ten.
New York was the lone North American representative, falling to ninth position owing to a slight weakening of the U.S. dollar, which also affected the position of other US cities.
The Worldwide Cost of Living is a twice-yearly survey that compares more than 400 individual prices across 160 products and services that include food, rent, transport and recreational costs, among others.

Father-of-six caught having sex with neighbour’s dog

A 45-year-old man escaped jail after a South African judge gave him a five-year suspended sentence for raping his neighbour’s puppy.
flobaze
Fanroi Mochachi, a married father-of-six, was caught having sex with his neighbour’s puppy after a child heard the animal howling in a communal garden.
Mochachi was caught having sex with eight-month-old Blackie by her 10-year-old owner and his uncle after they heard the pet’s cries.
He claimed he had caught two dogs mating on his way to a shared toilet and was overcome by temptation, chased the male mutt away and had sex with the female one.
A magistrate, Syta Prinsloo, branded the dad’s disgusting session as “serious, unnatural and barbaric”.
“Worse still is that you are married and a role model to your six children.
“Upsetting is that you will be expected to engage sexually with your wife, how will you explain this to her?”
Mochachi got a suspended five-year jail sentence after he pleaded guilty to bestiality in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The slap-in-the-wrist sentence has, however, spurred a wave of criticism from Prevention of Cruelty to Animals as well as the Women and Men Against Child Abuse.
Both organisations expressed concern about the sentence as Mochachi was now “roaming the streets unchecked”.
They called for harsher sentence “regarding the sexual violation of animals who, like children, are completely helpless to stop such violent attacks on them.”

Man jailed for 77 years for posing as a ‘spirit’ to defraud man of N20 Million

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, yesterday November 6th, 2017 secured the conviction of one Mohammed Yusuf before Justice Zainab Bage Abubakar of the Federal High Court, Gusau, Zamfara State.
flobaze
The convict was sentenced to 7 years’ imprisonment on each of the eleven count charge preferred against him by the EFCC. Yusuf had defrauded one Ya’u Mohammed to the tune of N20million between November 2012 and January 2013 in a classic advance fee fraud scheme.
Posing as a ‘spirit’ named ‘Asmau’, based in Niger Republic, the convict was able to convince the complainant through a phone call into believing that the mystery female voice had powers to establish schools and mosques to propagate Islam but needed a human vessel through which this could be achieved.
The complainant gullibly fell into his trap after threats that he either obeys the voice of the spirit or die. Subsequently, the convict began to extort his victim and used the money to buy exotic cars and acquire a mansion in red bricks area of Kano state. The sentences are to run concurrently from the day of his arrest.

Daddy Freeze replies pastor Adeboye’s response to his teachings on tithing

Controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze has replied the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s response to his teachings on tithing.
flobaze
According to pastor Adeboye, ‘Pay your tithes to avoid divine curses’. Read HERE if you missed.
Read Freeze’ response below…

“Dear Pastor Adeboye,
If you permit me, I will like to humbly seize this opportunity to raise some questions I consider valid.

Why did you say in a viral video, that even a mad person knows that you don’t drink alcohol in a church?

Although from a sentimental point of view, your premise might seem right, but is it really what the Bible teaches us? The book of Deuteronomy 14:22-26, when speaking about paying tithes, instructs us to take our tithe to the place the LORD has chosen, and if the place is too far, we are instructed to sell the portion of our tithe and use it to buy anything our heart desires, listing alcohol as one of the items that could be bought with our tithe. The King James Version says ‘strong drink’, the Holmans Bible says ‘beer’ while the new international version specifies ‘fermented drink’. All the above are forms of alcohol.

So if you say even a mad person knows that you don’t drink alcohol in church, are you suggesting that the modern day church is not the ‘place the LORD has chosen for tithe to be paid and for his name to be worshiped’ as described in the book of Deuteronomy, or are you implying that the Bible was written by lunatics, or are you perhaps doubting God’s sanity?

Another issue I’ll be grateful if you can throw some light upon, is where our first pastors and Daddy GOs, the 12 disciples, collected tithes, or where they instructed the believers who took over the headship of the church from them, to collect tithe.

I humbly suggest, that you kindly address the above questions with biblical evidence, as against whipping up sentiment, or employing what many preachers use, and in my opinion, I consider; ’emotional tactics’.

As the Berean Christian that I am, before accepting any doctrine, I research the scriptures to see if it aligns accordingly, with the word of God.

Thank you sir, I hereby extend my highest considerations and best regards. ~FRZ
